yt-automat
A private command-line tool used by one person, the owner, to publish videos on the owner's own YouTube channels.
What it does
yt-automat uses the YouTube Data API v3 through Google OAuth 2.0 to help the owner manage the publishing of the owner's own finished videos:
- upload a video file to a channel the owner owns or manages;
- set the title, description, tags and audience setting, and set a custom thumbnail;
- add the video to the owner's playlists;
- schedule the publication time;
- read the owner's own channel video lists to check the real state of an upload and to avoid uploading the same video twice.
Who uses it
The tool is private and has a single user, its owner. It is not offered to the public, it has no public web interface, no sign-up and no other users. It only works on channels that the owner has personally authorized through Google sign-in.
What it does not do
- It does not access any other person's YouTube account or data.
- It does not collect, store or analyze data about other YouTube users.
- It does not post comments, likes or subscriptions, and it does not download or scrape third-party content.
- It does not sell or share any data.
Safeguards
- A duplicate check, so the same video is never uploaded twice.
- A local daily quota counter that stops requests before the API limit is reached.
- A text filter that checks metadata before it is sent.
Privacy
How Google and YouTube data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy. yt-automat uses YouTube API Services and is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
